- Keimyung University has been selected as a 2024-2026 KF Global e-School (real-time), paving a new path for the global spread of Korean language education and Korean studies.
This project is conducted by Korea Foundation (KF) to support the development of Korean studies and to provide courses from prominent Korean and foreign universities to numerous universities around the world.
The project team, led by the faculty of the Department of Teaching Korean as a Foreign Language, will develop courses on Korean language education and Korean studies with the aim of fostering experts in the field and strengthening communication between domestic and international academia. The courses will be provided in real-time to students from nine partnered overseas universities studying in related fields, and the courses will be acknowledged as part of their regular curriculum.
Keimyung University has established collaborative partnerships with prominent universities in Europe, Central Asia, and Southern Asia, including Jagiellonian University in Poland, Karoli Gasper University in Hungary, and Palacky University in the Czech Republic. These alliances are anticipated to enhance the quality of Korean studies and Korean language education at these institutions.
Kim Seon-jung, Vice President for International Affairs, remarked, 'We are the only local university to be selected for this project, which is the result of Keimyung University's global networks and efforts in international education. Through this project, the fields of Korean language education and Korean studies in partner countries and universities will be firmly established. It is expected to serve as an opportunity to expand academic and human exchanges through communication between domestic and international academia.'
Simultaneously, Keimyung University has been contributing to the development of overseas Korean studies by publishing Acta Koreana, a peer-reviewed international journal of Korean studies in English by Academia Koreana, and by holding the International Conference on Korean Studies (KICKS) every two years.
