Honorary Doctorate of Public Administration on Mayor of Daegu Metropolitan City

  - Honorary Doctorate Conferral Ceremony was held at International Seminar Room, Dongcheon Hall at Keimyung University on April 27th (Wed) at 11 a.m.
  - This is in recognition for his contributions to the development of Daegu Metropolitan City and its citizens while serving as the 6th and 7th Mayor of Daegu.
 
  Keimyung University conferred honorary doctorate of Public Administration on Kwon Young-jin, Mayor of Daegu Metropolitan City.
 
  Honorary Doctorate Conferral Ceremony was held at International Seminar Room, Dongcheon Hall at Keimyung University with presence of Lee, Jae-Ha, Chairman of the Daegu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Chong Soon Mo, Honorary Chairman of Board of Trustees of Keimyung University, Kim Nam Seuk, Chairman of Board of Trustees of Keimyung University, and other officials. As a pre-ceremony event, a commemorative tree planting ceremony was held at Keimyung University Dongsan Hospital.
 
  The ceremony was performed in the order of declaration of opening and introduction of achievements by Prof. Chung, Chinkap, Dean of the graduate school, conferral of honorary doctorate and speech from the President of Keimyung University, a valedictorian speech from Kwon Young-jin, Mayor of Daegu Metropolitan City, and congratulatory remarks from Lee, Jae-Ha, former chairman of the Daegu Chamber of Industry and Commerce.
 
  In recognition of his contributions in resolving the long-awaited project,ie the relocation of Daegu International Airport, construction of new government buildings, diversification of water intake facilities, overcoming the COVID-19 pandemic, and nurturing local talent, Keimyung University conferred honorary doctorate of Public Administration on Kwon Young-jin, Mayor of Daegu Metropolitan City.
 
  President of Keimyung University remarked that it is our honor to confer honorary doctorate of Public Administration on Kwon Young-jin, Mayor of Daegu Metropolitan City. In particular, when COVID-19, which hit the world, spread on a large-scale in Daegu, Mayor Kwon was dedicated and worked hard for Daegu citizens at the forefront. We ask for his continued interest and affection for the development of our region in the future.
 
  Kwon Young-jin, Mayor of Daegu Metropolitan City replied and said that it is our honor to be a member of Keimyung University, a prestigious university with a 123-year old tradition and is a center of learning that opens the light to the world. As an administrator who has led Daegu for 8 years, I think it is given in the sense that we laid the foundation for the leap into a great Daegu through constant change and innovation. I will continue to find work that can serve and contribute to the citizens of Daegu so that our efforts are not in vain.
 
  Lee, Jae-Ha, Chairman of the Daegu Chamber of Commerce and Industry remarked that Mayor Kwon Young-jin has opened up the future of our region through unstoppable efforts during the 6th and 7th popular elections. He intensively fostered the '5+1 New Future Industries', grew it into a value-added industry worth KRW 3.5 trillion in 8 years, and achieved a result that the growth rate of added value by new industries more than doubled the national average. I believe that today's honorary doctorate conferral ceremony is the result of continuous efforts for a great leap forward to the great Daegu through continuous innovation for 8 years as the Mayor of Daegu Metropolitan City. I wish him endless success and good luck in the future,
 
  Kwon Young-jin, Mayor of Daegu Metropolitan City served as the Vice-Mayor for Political Affairs of Seoul Metropolitan Government (2006-2007), then as a Member of the 18th National Assembly (2008-2012), then as the 6th and 7th popular election, Mayor of Daegu Metropolitan City. Keimyung University (KMU) also conferred honorary doctorate degrees to Moon Hee-gap, former Mayor of Daegu Metropolitan City (2001), Cho Hae-nyung, former Mayor of Daegu Metropolitan City (2007), Kim Mu-yeon, former Mayor of Daegu Metropolitan City (2009), and on Kim Kwan-yong, former Governor of Gyeongsangbuk-do (2015).
