Keimyung University archery team coach, Ryu Soojung wins first prize in coaching section at the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee Awards

 - Coach Ryu Soojung won the first prize in the coaching section of ‘the 68th Korean Sport & Olympic Committee Awards’ for her contribution as the coach of the women's archery team at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

The women's archery team led by coach Ryu won their 9th consecutive gold in the women's archery team event and accomplished their first Olympic archery triple crown.

 
  The Keimyung University archery team coach, Ryu Soojung won the first prize in the coaching section of the ‘68th Korean Sport & Olympic Committee Awards’.

 
  The Korean Sport & Olympic Committee Awards, which were held at 10 a.m. on February 28 (Mon) at Muse Live at the Bangi-dong Olympic Park, Songpa-gu, Seoul, presented awards to 108 people from 9 organizations in 8 categories, including competing, coaching, refereeing, sports for all, school sports, meritorious deeds, research, and sports value, areas which contributed to the development of Korean sports last year.
 
  Coach Ryu Soojung won the first prize in the coaching section in recognition of winning the 9th consecutive gold in women's archery team event and the accomplishment of the first Olympic archery triple crown at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
 
  Coach Ryu said, 'I am happy to receive this great award, I was under a lot of pressure as I was the first Olympic team coach, but we were able to get good results because I believed in the players and everyone supported us.” and, “The players must have felt more nervous than anyone else, but I'm proud that they did well.”
 
  Coach Ryu Soojung has served as the archery coach of the Keimyung University team for over 30 years, contributing greatly to the development of Korean women's archery. After coaching the women's national team at the 2013 World Archery Championships and the women's archery team at the 2014 Incheon Asian Games, she once again took the helms as the national team coach at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Jang Hye-jin, the top sportswoman of the women's two-time archery championship team at the 2016 Rio Olympics, is also coach Ryu Soojung’s protégé. Jang Hye-jin visited her alma mater to express her gratitude to the school and at the same time gave all the credit toRyu Soojung.
